Airport in Himanchal Pradesh

Himanchal Pradesh is visited by a large number of tourists every year. people come from various cities of India as well as abroad to explore the picturesque beauty of the state since,the railway in the state are not too well developed, air
and  road reamains the most preferable mode of transport for reaching there. There are three domestic airports in himanchal pradesh situated at Bhuntar, Gaggal and Jubbarthatti. Howevere, till date, the state has no international airport of its own.

Airports in HImanchal Pradesh
Bhuntar Airport Bhuntar Airport is situated in bhuntar, near Kullu and manali. It is situated at a distance of 50km from Manali and 10km from kullu. Bhuntar is considered a challenging airport for pilots because of its single runway, set in deep valley whose peaks rise several thousand feet higher than the runway. Also, the airport is located on the banks of the rivers Beas, and in 1995, its flash floods posed a threat to runway. The new air terminal at Bhuntar was inaugurated in 2008.





Gaggal Airport  Gaggal airport is situated in Gaggal, near Dharamsala. It talls under the kangra District of Himanchal Pradesh. It falls at a distances of hardly 13km from Dharmsala and 8km from kangra. Air Deccan operted daily flights to Gaggal airport, from delhi and pathankot.


Jubbarhatti Airport  Jubbarhatti airport is situated in Jubbarhatti and mainly caters to the rush of travellers visiting Shimla. The airport is located approximately 23km away from Shimala. Jagson Airlines and deccan Airways operate regular flights to Jubbarhatti
